Thyroid cancer develops in the thyroid gland, a small butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of the neck that produces hormones regulating metabolism, growth, and energy levels. It often presents as a painless lump in the neck, along with symptoms such as hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, or swollen lymph nodes. Most thyroid cancers are highly treatable, especially when detected early. Treatment options may include thyroid surgery, radioactive iodine therapy, targeted therapy, or, in selected cases, chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
